Benefits of Water Fitness Classes

Do you know all of the benefits of exercising in water? Here are a few for you to think about:

  • LOW IMPACT – The upward force of “buoyancy” helps take pressure off of your joints.
  • WHOLE BODY CONDITIONING – Water provides built in resistance, allowing for more intense workouts.
  • LESS INJURY CONCERN – Working out in water is known for its rehabilitation properties. Water exercise can speed up recovery, is nearly pain-free, and helps injured people move easier.
  • GOOD FOR CARDIOVASCULAR HEALTH – Just being in the water is known to reduce high blood pressure. It relaxes the blood vessels so that they can carry more blood while presenting less resistance to the heart.

Arthritis Program

Co-sponsored by our YMCA and the Southern California Chapter of the National Arthritis Foundation, participants are led by the trained instructors through specially-designed exercises, which will help improve joint flexibility and muscle strength while relieving pain. Classes are ongoing; join us at anytime! Swim caps must be worn by everyone in the pool, available at the front desk for purchase.

Watercise

We have ongoing classes in our heated indoor pool. These fun and invigorating workouts are designed to use the resistance of the water, augmented by water weights, to tone and firm muscles while giving your body support for stretching and increasing flexibility.
