About Aquatics

YMCAs have been teaching people to swim for more than a century. In the YMCA of West San Gabriel Valley aquatic programs, children learn to be safe around water and they feel the sense of accomplishment that comes with learning something new. Children can develop lifelong skills that can help them stay healthy. Our YMCA aquatic programs include parent/ child classes, preschool, youth, adult classes, and swim teams.

Open Swim *
Family swim is open to both children and adults who want to swim laps or play in our open recreation area. Children under the age of 7 or fewer than 48 inches must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Two to four lap lanes are open. No lap swimming is allowed in the recreation area.

Adult Recreational Swim *
Adult recreational swim is open to adults over 15 years old. Any one under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Four lap lanes are open. No lap swimming is allowed in the recreation area.

Family Aquacize *

These classes are ongoing.  Come by and improve your endurance by using the resistance of water and weights.  This is a low impact class designed to improve muscle strength and flexibility.

Tues. 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

*Daily fee is required for community members


  Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program *

Co-sponsored by your YMCA and the Southern California Chapter of the National Arthritis Foundation, participants are led by the trained instructors through specially-designed exercises, which will help improve joint flexibility and muscle strength while relieving pain.  Classes are ongoing; come by anytime! One lap lane available at this time

 

Mon/Wed/Thurs 9:30 am - 10:30 am

Watercise *
Ongoing classes, come any time! Our classes are held in shallow water of our indoor heated pool. These fun and invigorating workouts are designed to use the resistance of the water and water weights to tone and firm muscle while giving your body support for stretching and increasing flexibility. NO lap swimming is allowed at the same time.

Friday 9:00 am -10:00 am

Group Lessons

Group swim lessons are for all ages and levels (see Swim Lessons) Classes are either twice a week (Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs) or once a week (Saturday or Sunday). An evaluation is needed to sign up for any classes above beginner�s levels. NO lap or recreational swim is offered during these times.
